Creating a New You after the New Year

By: John Alvi Bautista Morales, Content Writer

Did you know? The first nation to welcome the new year was Kiribati, which is located in the Pacific. New Year is a time of new beginnings. It’s also a time for looking at what we want to change about ourselves and our lives. We are all trying to find ways to make our lives better, happier, and healthier we can make that happen in 2023.

The Importance of new year's resolution has a big impact on our lifestyle. It is a great way to make changes in your life and set goals for yourself it can also help you to take control of your life and achieve success.

Now is an excellent time to make some adjustments in your life as 2023 gets started. Here are a few pre-emptive questions to consider before setting goals for yourself.

1. What do you want to do?

It’s important to know your goals because it helps you to focus on what’s important. specifying your goals also helps you keep track of them so that you don’t lose sight of what you want out of life and what you’re working toward.

When you have a goal, it’s easier to figure out the steps you need to take to achieve it. You can use the SMART goal setting as your guide to know what you want to achieve:

  • S – Specific. You won't be able to focus your efforts or feel fully driven to reach your objective if it isn't clear and distinct. For instance, it is not explicit enough to say that your goal is to "reduce weight." You could drop a few pounds, but you don't know how to keep it off, so you put the weight back on.

  • M - Measurable. It enables you to break down your goals into measurable elements, giving you a clear focus. By regularly evaluating progress, you can stay focused, and meet deadlines.

  • A – Attainable. To be effective, your aim must also be attainable and reasonable. It should therefore be challenging for you while still being doable.

  • R – Relevant. This step is about ensuring that your goal matters to you and that it also aligns with other relevant goals.

  • T- Time-bound. Every objective needs a target date so that you have something to work toward and a deadline to concentrate on.

2. Why will you do it?

Knowing that there is a purpose, a reason, and a goal we want to achieve stimulates us to act. The more challenging goal, the stronger the success feeling is related to it.

3. How will you do it?

Plan.

Defining the correct actions to execute, makes you prepared for the upcoming struggles. The secret to reaching your goal is planning. Planning is essential if you want to accomplish something. Plan your every step so that, awareness and preparation help you cope if a problem comes up.

Taking Action.

The first step is the most important. If you do not take the first step, you will never reach your goal. It will set the tone for what will come for the rest of your life. Just do it, nothing will come up if you don’t take it.

Consistency.

The explanation is straightforward: consistency breeds momentum. You get better at something and gain momentum as you practice it more frequently. What was once difficult eventually turns into a habit, and habits are challenging to stop. If you started doing it doesn’t stop that’s one way to produce a result.

With these 3 questions, you'll be able to identify the best approach for any situation, prioritize your efforts, and even get a better understanding of yourself. Evaluating leads to properly observing your progress in changing for the better.
